How to reconcile Army Flight Logbook hours with your source records

Define the comparison first

When two flight-hour totals disagree, start by writing down what each one includes. Are both using the same date range, aircraft selection, and record types? A career total and a semiannual total answer different questions even when they appear beside similar labels.

Army Flight Logbook’s documentation describes all-flight and date-based views. Make the scope visible in your comparison notes so you do not fix data that was simply being viewed differently.

Move from totals to individual records

Once the scope matches, compare smaller groups: one month, one aircraft, or a short period where you know the source records are complete. Find the first point at which the totals diverge. That gives you a manageable set of flights to examine rather than an entire career history.

For each suspected difference, note whether the record is missing, duplicated, dated differently, or assigned to another category. These are different problems and should not receive the same correction.

Record the evidence for a correction

Maintain a short discrepancy list containing the source reference, the current entry, and the correction you believe is needed. Review the source before editing. Do not add a balancing flight or change an unrelated time value just to force the final total to match.

Keep personal review separate from official correction

Correcting your personal logbook does not automatically update another record system. If the discrepancy is in an official record, follow your unit’s authorized correction process. Keep the original source and your review notes, and rerun the same comparison after any approved changes so you can see exactly what changed.
